Application: Counting of Electrical Contact Pins

Electrical contact pins present a particular challenge for automated counting due to their long, slender shape. Their low individual weight often renders quantity estimation by weight inaccurate, while manual counting is time-consuming and error-prone.

The elmor C1 counting device offers a reliable solution for this task. Originally developed for counting seeds, the elmor C1 is also highly effective for precision-engineered small parts such as electrical contact pins and sockets.

Typical applications include:

  • Determining total quantities or bulk batches for manufacturers and distributors of contact pins
  • Dispensing repeatable small quantities of connector components for plug assembly
  • Integration as counting units in automated packaging processes

A standard configuration consists of:

  • The elmor C1 counting device
  • A feed tray made of anodized or hard-anodized aluminum; trays made of other materials or with special coatings are available upon request
  • A sorting element that ensures only one part at a time exits the feed tray; the adjustable FS3 sorting element, which can be adjusted in both height and width, is frequently used

For special parts—such as contact pins with a hollow side where another pin might become hooked—elmor offers enhanced solutions based on part length measurement. If the system detects a joined double part, it is automatically returned to the feed tray for re-separation.

Key advantages at a glance:

  • Accurate counting, even for parts with complex geometries
  • High process reliability thanks to a robust, interference-resistant device and feed/sorting components tailored to the application
  • Easy integration into both manual and fully automated workflows
